For most of my life, I've enjoyed my special interests in solitude. The dawn of the digital age and the rise of social media made it easier to connect with like-minded people all over the world. But it was still only a couple of years ago since I started to look for online communities of people who shared my interests.
In that short time I learned that fandom aren't a monolith. I learned that not everyone is your friend. And I learned that finding your corner can be difficult. Especially when your particular interests in your favourite piece of media occupy a niche.
I'm an early millennial with an interest in anime, queer media, and figure skating. I go by the pronouns she and they, and you can call me Cat. Since 1998, I've been writing all kinds of stories, since 2009, I'm writing consistently and mostly fanfiction. My current nerd obssesion is the sports anime Yuri!!! On Ice—both as a writer as and a someone who thrives on analysing any piece of media.
Dreamwidth is a new adventure for me. I'm looking forward to the connections I may find here.
